A Bike Life is a blog, about — you guessed it — a bike life. My name is Dave and I live in Iowa. I started biking seriously in about 7th grade, now that I am 50-something that is indeed a lifetime of cycling. I wish I could say that I have been on the bike constantly all those years but life sometimes got in the way. Along the way I have had multiple careers, married my high school sweetheart and we have eight children. However, I always seem to come back to my first love, the bike.
My current rides are a Bridgestone RB-1, a mid ’90s Specialized StumpJumper, and a Redline 925 fixed gear. I had S&S couplings put on my RB-1 and I have been taking it with me in my travels all over the United States.
I have known for a few years that I would need an aortic valve replacement. In the fall of 2017, while undergoing some pre-surgery testing, my doctors discovered that I would need a triple bypass. So, at the end of September I had a valve replacement and triple bypass. My recovery is going well and as the final step I plan on riding at least one 60 mile day on RAGBRAI!
This blog is about life and the bike, enjoy.
